Some books are like chocolate. The delicious scent of the book as you open it and breathe it all in, the crinkling of pages as you turn it, just like the wrapper of chocolates. The delight that courses through your veins as you read each and every word, feel it, and savoring every moment, reluctant to let it end, but at the same time, you want to know the ending. And the disappointment that hits you hard when you finish reading it, that's terrible.
You don't know what to do next, life stops in its tracks. You're still caught inside the book.
The Invisible Life Of Addie LaRue, made me feel so much that I don't know what to do now. This book is one of the best things that has happened to me this year. It was my most anticipated 2020 release, and when I laid my hands on a copy, I was ravenous, I wanted to read every bit of it. My heart swelled with joy as I started to read it, and when it ended, it broke, only to mend again.

No matter how well I write about this book, it's never going to do it justice. But still, I can try.

Adeline never wanted to be like others. She was stubborn, not obedient, was never a good daughter, and would never be a good wife, but a dreamer. Blessed by a constellation, seven freckles on her cheeks, she was her father's Addie. Never content within the small town of Villon, she wanted to see the world, she wanted to live, wanted to venture. But when her father decides her marriage date, and makes her the obedient daughter she was supposed to be, Adeline knows in her bones that she can never constrict herself to the limits of a house and tend to kids. Hence, on her wedding day, she runs away and calls to the old gods.
You must humble yourself before them. You must offer them a gift.
Something precious to you. And you must be careful of what you ask for

Desperate to get out of her marriage, she calls to the gods. But she didn't know that her timing was wrong. She broke the one rule, Never pray to the gods that answer after dark.. When the dark shadow crept near her, taking the form of a person she loved, she asked him for freedom. And he gave her what she wished for. But there was a cost and she didn't know it then. When the shadow kissed her, leaving a trace of copper in her fine lips, the deal was sealed and she couldn't break away.
Pleasured by the fact that she would be free again to do whatever she wants, Addie goes back home only to realize that her family doesn't remember her. When she asked to be free, the shadow had made her free in all respects, he severed the thread that anchored her to the world. She couldn't leave any mark anywhere, and no one would remember her.
She yearns for remembrance, in every way possible, knowing well deep down that her wish won't come true. Until one day when it does. When Henry Strauss, utters the magical words, I remember you

The novel is told from different timelines and different places. (The places that Addie visits.)But the major portion is told from New York and Villon. The book is divided into several parts, each part starting with an art piece. The writing is so mesmerizing that every chapter leaves a particular line the readers can ponder upon, and hold close to their heart. The whole book tries to answer a particular question, If a person cannot leave a mark, do they exist?
Addie's journey is a journey of discovery of love and legacy. It gives the idea that legacy is not something to leave behind but it's something that you build, like ideas, which anchor you to the world. The Invisible Life Of Addie LaRue is a perfect tribute to the beautiful country of France and it addresses many questions, many ideas and many elements all while enveloping it in a layer of fantasy. It provides a new perspective on death too, death being a main character of the book, and I find myself wondering about the devil and his feelings.

There is nothing to say about this book other than the fact that it is PERFECT. I will never read something so perfectly crafted ever again. All the stars in the universe should be given to this book! With a writing that is brilliant, and the characters so vivid and unforgettable, enclosed in a case of magic and history, The Invisible Life Of Addie LaRue, carved a place in my heart, a place that is held for it alone.

An amazing novel. My favourite thuss far. How the author makes you feel the feelings of each character. The feeling of experiencing each year, decade and century. The ups and downs and twists.

My only wish is to be able to read it again as if it were the first time. If only it weren't for the curse of time.

The plot is like the K-drama Goblin, right? Judging from the synopsis I guess I'll bawl my eyes out

This book is an outstanding piece of art. The defiant nature of Addie, how she is able to overcome the hardship and manipulative nature of Luc. The simple representation of the patriarchy and the uprising feminism is breathtaking to say the least! The fact that the novel is throughout diffeeent time lines shows how beautiful it is. The nature of Addie's curse and how she turns it to a blessing. However the ending is devastating. It ruined me to say the least
